The results of the 12 June legislative elections are monitored at the level of the Constitutional Council with full transparency, neutrality and integrity, stressed Tuesday in Algiers Chairman of the Constitutional Council, Kamel Fenniche.
In a statement to the press, on the sidelines of an information day held at the headquarter of the Constitutional Council to discuss “the appeal terms relating to the provisional results of the
June 12 legislative elections, Fenniche said that the results are monitored at the level of the Constitutional Council with full transparency, neutrality and integrity.”
The President of the Constitutional Council recalled, in this regard, Article 271 of the law on the electoral system which states that “for electing members of the People’s National Assembly,
The province’s electoral works must be completed, at the latest, within 96 hours after the closure of the poll.
The president of the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE) may, if necessary, extend this deadline for additional 48 hours, he said.
Upon reception of the minutes, Fenniche in his capacity as President of the Constitutional Council began the distribution of files to the Council’s members “who work in groups made up of judges of the Supreme Court and the Council of State.
Copies of these minutes were also given to the IT department for deeper checks. (3 more checks)
In the same respect, Fenniche reported “the mobilization of some 500 people to monitor the minutes, pending the announcement by the ANIE of the elections’ provisional results.
