ALGIERS-The National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CNESE) is considering the manufacturing of a made-in-Algeria electric car, announced the council’s Chairman Redha Tir, stressing that Algeria has the necessary means to implement environmental projects.
Speaking at a press briefing held on the sidelines of a meeting-debate on environmental policies in Algeria, organized by the CNESE, Tir said that the Council he chairs “considers the manufacturing a made-in-Algeria electric car.”
According to Tir, Algeria has prodigies of renown in various sectors related to the development of such a project, in addition to the natural resources necessary to implement this project like iron and steel.
“The CNESE remains receptive to all initiatives and encourages all national skillful SMEs and start-ups interested in such projects. It also includes other sectors, including the pharmaceutical industry,” he said.
In this regard, Tir urged the development of the Algerian human resource in the field of innovation “in order to shape a real industrial policy that takes into account the environmental requirements.”
